Heavy snowfall over the night of Saturday 4th February caused Sunday meetings on the 5th to be cancelled. After a 10cm (4 inches) snowfall in sub-zero temperatures, police advised motorists to stay at home. Some who didn’t wished they had as there were some minor accidents in and around Hadleigh.
After the decision to call off morning worship, Commanding Officer Major David Woodman went to the hall to inform anyone who had turned up about the cancellation. About a dozen faithful comrades had made the effort.
During the lunch-time period the decision was taken to also cancel the evening meeting.
The day’s worship was due to led by a party of cadets but in a late evening phone call on Saturday between Denmark Hill and Hadleigh their visit was cancelled.
