We are pleased to announce that the coach returned to Hadleigh with the correct number of “Silver Service” holidaymakers.
The normal wave-off party assembled outside the Hall, Robin was to join us later and the others look as if they are really pleased to see us go.
On the way to Eastbourne we stopped for coffee at Tunbridge Wells befor pushing on to Battle for a longer stop on our journey.
The next day, Tuesday, we went to Lewes for the morning with a ‘free’ afternoon. After dinner in the evening the duty manager, William who is an Italian from the heel of Italy, compered a quiz evening. There was much hilarity as we tried to understand his very un-English pronounciation which he played up to in very good spirit.
The next day, Wednesday was a full day out toWorthing in the morning for coffee and then on to Brighton. In the evening Robin entertained in his usual style, he even provided song sheets although some of the group already knew all the words.
A few of our party had gone out to listen to the 1812 being played at the bandstand culminating in a firework display.
On Thursday morning there was a choice of venues. The coach took us for the morning to Rye via Hastings. The majority did not fancy the hill walking at Rye so alighted in Hastings to enjoy the sunshine and the old town. In the evening the Hotel provided us with an entertainer, Adam Knight, a vocalist who also played his guitar and sang all the numbers that members of our party could remember, join in and have a good jig to. Adam was supposed to finish about 9.30 but finally gave up, much to our disappointment at 11pm. We hope that he will come to entertain the Silver Service Club one Monday afternoon.
The weather for the whole week had been perfect and Friday morning saw our party reluctant to leave the hotel veranda to board out coach to come home via Tenterden and Polhill.
Where will it be next year?
