TWO police community support officers were so delighted at having been invited to Christmas lunch with the Silver Service Club that they are giving the club some biscuits as a thank-you.

PCSOs Kirsty Dean and Julie Kirrage are regular visitors to the Temple to see that everything is OK and to make contact with local people through the corps’ community outreach initiatives. For example Julie says:
‘We were happy to be able to go into the mother and toddler group and make friends with the children. Sometimes parents may say something like “The policeman will take you away and lock you up” without thinking. We want the young people to see us as a friend, not be frightened of us and feel they can come to us if they are in trouble.’

Kirsty and Julie have obviously made themselves feel like friends to the older generation, too as they were invited to the Silver Service Club’s Christmas lunch.  The girls came into the hall to see if it would be acceptable for them to offer a tin of biscuits as a thank-you. A very nice gesture indeed.
