Hadleigh Temple Silver Service Club (Over 55s Club) celebrated Prince George’s 1st Birthday, making it into a party for all members to enjoy.
Members were encouraged to wear their ‘Sunday’ best. A red carpet was laid from the Temple to the road, so that they, and the special ‘royal’ visitor could arrive in style.

She arrived, having been chauffeured in an open-top car by Songster Leader Carl Carter to be greeted by members of Hadleigh Temple Band playing on the lawn, and her ’Lady in Waiting’ for the day, (Salvationist Harriet Carter)
Attending the special event were civic guests: Castle Point Borough Mayor (Councillor Jackie Govier), Deputy Mayor (Andrew Sheldon), and Member of Parliament for Castle Point Rebecca Harris. London North East Division was represented by Liz Hall (Family Officer).
Leader Robin Bryant greeted the guests and outlined the purposes of the club, emphasising it as being a provision for the elderly members of the borough provided by The Salvation Army. The club has over 200 members, and the afternoon, which included entertainment finished with a birthday party tea in honour of Prince George for the 190 attending members.
